The northern area of Gran Canaria shows the visitors the wild part of the island. The impressive cliffs edge natural areas which are the result of erosion and volcanic past. From Bandama Peak Viewpoint you can enjoy great views over the caldera named after a Flemish trader who lived in the 17th century: Daniel van Damme. Arucas is a pictoresque municipality where you can walk along its neoclassical streets and contemplate the majestic neogothic Church of San Juan Bautista.
Firgas is known as the balcony over the Atlantic. This town is a small oasis with water running along one of its steep streets. Puerto de las Nieves in Agaete is a charming fishermen´s village with views to stunning cliffs and Tamadaba pine wood. Finally, you can take a rest at Los Berrazales, a unique paradise which hosts the only farm in Europe where coffee is grown. Here, you can also enjoy a wine tasting and try the famous malvasia wine, which the playwright William Shakespeare loved. You can also taste a delicious red or sweet wine, depending on the season.
