We start our visit at the archeological site called Las Cañadas de Gatos in Puerto de Mogán where we travel back to Gran Canaria´s prehispanic past. This well preserved site gives us a very good idea of how the "canariis" lived, ate, worshipped their deities and buried their dead. It´s one of those places that make history tangible!
After our visit, we set off to the 21st century where we will observe the impact of Gran Canaria´s most important industry: tourism. At the beach, - apart from the flocks of tourists- we will see the great cliffs and the different layers of coloured rock. It´s the perfect spot to talk about the island´s volcanic activity.
Our next challenge will be the 25m climb to Puerto de Mogán´s viewpoint. The staircase that leads us up to the "mirador" is hidden in the fishermen´s neighbourhood. The narrow alleys turn this "barrio de pescadores" into a small labyrinth and give it a romantic Mediterranean flair. Up on the top, one can see as far as El Taurito and up into the ravine of Mogán.
Once we´re back at sea level, the colourful harbour will be our next stop. There you will be in one of Spain´s most picturesque urbanisations; full of colourful bougainvillea.
Our last stop will be the sunset beach. A small trail will lead us to an open spot below the high cliffs from where we will be able to see Gran Canaria´s big sister: Tenerife!
This is a tour that makes you discover the real Puerto de Mogán!
