Great Success for the Canary Islands in International Travel & Tourism Awards
The pavilion of the Canary Islands has been awarded "Best Business Stand" during the 39th World Travel Market. Furthermore, the project After-Rain Ads was "highly commended" by the International Travel & Tourism Awards in the category "Best Regional/City Campaign", as published in Twitter by the Tourism Board of the Canary Islands.
Stop Blue Monday was awarded "Best PR Campaign" and "The 7 islands that became 47" won the gold prize as "Best Digital Campaign in Tourism". Gran Canaria was also nominated for "Best in Wellness" category for promoting wellness tourism in the website "Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health".
Eldia.es digital newspaper published that the Tourism deputy minister Mr Cristóbal de la Rosa claimed during a meeting between the Canary team and the UK trade association for tour operators and travel agents, ABTA, that: "the demand is still strong and solid and British people, in spite of Brexit, have decided to plan early their holidays for 2019. Until September this year, the booking of package vacations in the Canary Islands has increased by 9%. Compared with the same period last year, the number of visitors will increase by 236,482".
This tourism event was held in London between the 5th and 7th of November. Tourinews remarked the presence of a special guest: the anonymous street artist Banksy. The graffiti artist painted a work of art specifically made for Palestine´s touristic stand. "The Walled Off" is a replica of Israel´s wall with Palestine and the aim of the project is to promote the hotel with the "worst view in the world". The building is placed in Bethlehem, in West Bank region, only 9 kilometers way from Jerusalem.
